School profiles are essential to addressing equity concerns in college admission, as they provide admission officers with critical contextual information about applicants’ high school environment. In this one-hour webinar for WSCA school counselors, participants will learn about recent research conducted on the school profile with admission officers and counselors, as well as practical suggestions and concrete tools for building effective school profiles. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on their own school profiles with their peers--including discussion of strengths and opportunities for improvement.

All participants will discuss a set of new, free tools for creating the school profile created by Making Caring Common for school counselors.

Participants will leave the webinar able to:

  1. Articulate what a school profile is, why it matters, and why it is important for advancing equity in college admission.
  2. Articulate what colleges say are the most important elements to include in a profile.
  3. Access a wide array of free tools for developing the profile, including examples, templates, and counselors’ best practices.
  4. Discuss and reflect on their profile with their peers. Give and share ideas.

1 Clock hour available for WSCA members for free; $2 for non-members

This webinar will also be recorded and available for viewing and clock hours after the event. There will be a 5 question post-test as part of the process.

Zoom Link will be sent out the day prior to event.
